Review

I am not a fans of superhero movie, but I have so many credits for The Dark Knight movie. I knew that it will be better than Batman Returns, and yes I got it right. I think those two movies are really mature in such a way that never becomes a major concern of many superheroes movie. Maybe it is because most of superhero movies refer to children, but come on, adults need their ones too. Batman is not typical any superhero that can use their super power and over power their enemy. Batman is just ordinary guy who lands better than any other people from sky-scrapper building with the help of high-end technology. But without the help of the gadget itself, Bruce Wayne will be about the same as us.

It makes Batman a fragile superhero, and that is the selling point. In The Dark Knight movie, Batman faces his eternal villain : Joker -whom i think the strongest opponent of Batman. I watched the trailer of the movie before, and i kind of thought that The Dark Knight actually referred to Joker itself. But I was wrong. Watching the movie, my heart was trembling so hard knowing that there is possibility that Batman would end up losing to Joker. It is the first time of my history seeing superhero movies that make me doubt that the superhero will win over the villain.

I have to confess that I am not kind of a guy who is interested in politics. The last political-themed movie I watched was "V for Vendetta" (although it is sort of half fantasy genre) and "The Interpreter" (God knows that I will care less if Nicole Kidman did not play in that movie). However, I have to admit that I enjoyed watching Vantage Point.

The credit is given mostly for the plot used to tell the story. Instead of telling it in linear and conventional way, the film maker broke down the whole story into at least 5 point of views: Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver) -a GNN television news producer , Thomas Barnes (Dennis Quaid) together with Kent Taylor (Matthew Fox) - Secret Agents responsible for protecting the president of US during his mandatory visit in Spain, Henry Ashton (William Hurt) -the president of United States, Enrique (Eduardo Noriega) -a local officer assigned to protect the mayor, and Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker) -an American tourist who happened to capture the murder scene of President Ashton with his handy cam .

I was heading to the cinema, hoping to see the pre-historic setting movie which at least as good as "300". But "bigger number" is not always related with the better quality I guess. I was kind of little disappointed with the movie. Or perhaps I was just expecting too much.

As I know, Roland Emmerich is the director of big-hit movies, namely Independence Day, Godzilla, or The Day After Tomorrow. That makes this movies into an account. But 10.000 BC surprisingly turned out into simple, robotic, and predictable.

Review

What I really love about this movie is the simplicity that blows my heart away. Simplicity does not necessarily refer to dullness, but rather how it can touch our heart by presenting things which are familiar with us. While some series show us how to save the world, how to date a really good catch, and so on, Brothers & Sisters gives us an insight how big life is started from a family. It looks so real for me and understandable why I can have emotional bound with this series above all others I have also watched.
